Tuesday through Saturday position--must be available to work this schedule
Top national healthcare client is looking for a Remote Inpatient Coder to join their team immediately for a long term contract. They will initially be assigned to one of their Orange County, CA hospitals but can be moved to other sites as need arises. This person will work 100% remote and on a Tuesday through Saturday schedule. The right candidate will have previous Inpatient Coding experience or Outpatient Surgery Coding experience.

Responsibilities:
Reviewing clinical documentation and diagnostic results as appropriate to extract data and apply appropriate ICD-9-CM diagnostic and procedural codes for reimbursement and statistical purposes.
Accurately coding inpatient conditions and procedures as documented in the ICD-9-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, utilizing the required UHDDS definitions to arrive at the most appropriate MS-DRG assignment.

Qualifications:
Credentials to include one of or a combination of the following: Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), and/or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).
Two years
Inpatient Medical Coder experience in an acute care facility, teaching facility, or trauma center OR Outpatient Surgery Center
ICD-10-CM and PCS training a plus but not required
Advanced knowledge of the following:
Medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, disease process, pharmacology, and complex surgical procedures.
Specialized references as used in the ICD-9-CM publication, medical dictionaries and texts, and medical journals.
Coding Clinic and all official coding guidelines including UHDDS.
Hospital information systems, encoders and other technology to facilitate a successful virtual work environment while maintaining maximum communication and adhering to HIPAA security standards.
Accepted medical abbreviations and their meanings.
Abide by the standards of the Ethical Coding as set forth by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and adhere to all official coding guidelines.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
