Solution Architects wear a lot of hats. This role combines sales, design, management and delivery all into one brain.
Success Predictors
A good indicator of success for solution architects is that your friends find you a bit too analytical. You must be curious, able to tease information from people and willing to determine a solution from several possible alternatives. You'll need the verbal and written dexterity to describe your ideas to both geeks and Luddites.

Knowledge of the Force.com platform and other development technologies.
The ability to communicate with clients and lead them to a solution.
Desire to work with developers, guide them to a solution and alter your solution based on their feedback.
Possess a deep loathing of cubicles and value flexibility and high pay over the 9-to-5 beige office experience.
Have a decent handle on building quality user experience apps.
Enjoy building things that solve client needs elegantly.
Requirements:
Computer Science Degree with 3.0
GPA or 3
years web application development experience
Experience with web application server environments/languages: ColdFusion, ASP.net, JSP and/or PHP or similar
Solid with JavaScript as well as CSS
SQL experience on more than one major database
Force.com platform knowledge
Ajax toolkits: Extjs, JQuery, etc.
Java, C#
SOA
Amazon Web Services knowledge
Google APIs
GUI design sensibilities
Responsibilities:
Work with Consultant/Project Management team across multiple projects
Provide solution implementation using a variety of technologies listed in the requirements above
Record hours worked on a daily basis
Be responsive to requests from project members and management
Practice good development life cycle including but not limited to:
solid coding patterns and comments
use of source control on each project
writing test methods in a timely manner
self-testing work prior to calling it done
expert use of Force.com IDE or comparable IDEEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
